Air Filters: A Critical Component Not to Be Overlooked

When Car air filters should be replaced

Air filters play a crucial role in preventing debris from clogging your system, which can lead to the accumulation of moisture and the development of musty odors. This can be a breeding ground for various diseases and bacteria. Additionally, if the air filter is not replaced regularly, the air conditioning system in your car may not cool as effectively, especially during extended use. Dust particles can congeal and form solid blocks, corroding the system and causing larger leaks, further reducing its efficiency.

Car air filters should be replaced every year or every 20,000 kilometers. However, if you drive in dusty conditions frequently, you may need to change the air filter more often.

Here’s how to replace the air filter yourself:

  1. Open the storage compartment under the center console.
  2. Open the locks on both sides inside the storage compartment.
  3. After removing the storage compartment, you will notice a slot for the air filter on the inside.
  4. Remove the air filter cover panel and carefully pull out the old air filter, being cautious not to tear it as it’s made of paper.
  5. Insert the new air filter in the same orientation, following the markings on the filter.
  6. Close the air filter panel and place the storage compartment back in its place.
